Hi guys,

Here is some homework for you to be getting on with today:

Literacy

Write a dialogue between the Highwayman and Bess. Think about the situation that they are in and the kinds of things they might say to each other.

Remember:

Speech marks

Capital letter at beginning of speech

New line each time speaker changes

Different words for said

Maths

Your number is 246

Make up word problems for this number using the 4 operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Challenge – How about trying some 2 step problems!

Hope you’re all having fun building snowmen, making snow angels etc! Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Why not have a go at writing some maths word problems using snowmen, snow flakes etc. as your amounts…

I wonder if anyone can think of a really tricky one for me to solve tomorrow!

Hi everyone. Hope you’re not missing school too much! Looking forward to seeing you when we re-open – keep checking the blog for up dates.

In the meantime, I’d like you to write me a snowy story.

One of you characters is…

One of your settings is…

The rest is up to you! Think about snowy tales you have read/ watched before – The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Snow Queen, Polar Express etc.

Make your story exciting, funny, scary…whatever you like. Can’t wait to read them!

Maths – (Miss Challis’ Group)

Decimal numbers – ordering, rounding, calculations.

Written methods for multiplication and division.

Estimating, checking and reasoning skills.

Science

Changing States

ICT

Using ICT to develop scientific learning – linked to science topic.

Daily Information – January 2010

Every day

Bring your book bag, reading book, reading record and homework to school. Practice reading at home. Practice spellings and mental maths at home.

Wednesdays

We will have indoor gym on Wednesday so please bring a tracksuit/ leggings and a t-shirt.

Thursdays

We have the sports coaches on Thursdays. Bring a track suit or leggings, a t-shirt, and a jumper. Remember, sometimes it gets cold! You must bring trainers.

Fridays

You will be given literacy and maths homework every Friday. You will need to hand this in by Wednesday. (Miss Challis’ groups)

Star of the Week!

Hi guys.

V sorry have not updated star of the week for a while. Our latest stars have been Adam, Jordan and Amy. They have all made fantastic contributions to 6/5 C this term and are working really hard across the curriculum. Well done guys, keep up the good work!

This week’s star of the week is Akeel.

Akeel has had a great first half term in 6/5C. He has made fantastic contributions to class discussions and he is showing a mature attitude towards school. Well done Akeel. Keep up the good work.

Maryam was our star of the week this week. She wrote a really brilliant play called Moon Landing that we will be using for our assembly on Wednesday morning. Well done Maryam.

Star of the Week

This weeks star of the week is Yanin. It was Yanin’s last day at Plymouth Grove on Friday and we will all really miss her. We want to say a big thankyou to her for being such a star in our class! keep in touch on the blog Yanin.

Last weeks star was Mohammed. Mohammed was chosen for his excellent maths work by Mrs Ghani and seconded by me for being such a polite and kind member of our class. Well done Mohammed!
